MARCO LUBIANA

Marco Lubiana, a rising star in the world of winemaking, carries forward a legacy spanning six generations of the Lubiana family's dedication to crafting exceptional wines. With roots dating back to the late 1800s in the northwest of Italy, the Lubiana family's journey from Istria to Australia's fertile lands has been marked by a deep commitment to the art of winemaking.

Following in the footsteps of his forebears, Marco has seamlessly blended tradition and innovation to create wines that tell a story of terroir and passion. Growing up on the family vineyard, he absorbed the wisdom passed down by his father, Steve Lubiana, and the rich experiences of his ancestors. Marco's journey led him to study Oenology and Viticulture at the University of Adelaide, a pivotal step that refined his palate and honed his skills.

Marco's approach to winemaking is a testament to his reverence for the land and his commitment to sustainability. Embracing biodynamic practices and minimal intervention, he lets the vineyard's character shine through in every bottle. His dedication to quality is reflected in his meticulous winemaking techniques, characterized by gravity-fed processes, cold maturation cellars, and a skillful touch with sulfur usage.

With a keen eye on Burgundian traditions and an unyielding pursuit of excellence, Marco has ventured into creating his own label, crafting wines that capture the essence of Tasmania's cool-climate terroir. His 2018 debut vintage turned heads, and subsequent releases have earned him accolades, including the prestigious Vigneron award at the Young Gun of Wine Awards.

As he works alongside his father, Steve Lubiana, in their family vineyard and winery, Marco Lubiana stands as a symbol of continuity and innovation, embodying the Lubiana legacy while pushing the boundaries of possibility. Each bottle that bears his name carries not only the flavors of Tasmania's unique landscape but also the story of a family dedicated to the timeless art of winemaking.
